We Filipinos are Mild Drinkers
Questions
1.
If ever you have the chance to
talk to an American, what best feature about Filipinos will you tell him?
Answer:
For me,
one of the best trait of Filipinos is being family-oriented. When our parents
grew older we take care of them. Whatever happens, wherever we are and what we
are doing, always, we searched for our family’s presence. We reminisce those
elusive moments we have shared together with our family, which just shows how
family truly matters to every Filipino.
The How’s, What If’s and If ever’s:
1. How
are Filipinos portrayed in the story? What certain characteristics of Filipinos
are present in the character of the farmer?
Answer:
Filipinos were portrayed by the farmer as
humble and hospitable. Even he can drink tons of alcohol still, he insist that
he is a mild drinker. Also, the way the farmer accommodated Joe only shows how
welcoming and friendly we are in our visitors.
2. What
if an American invites you to drink but of his choice, would you join him?
Answer:
Well, since I don’t drink, I will refuse
him politely. I will still stay and talk to him but I won’t drink. And if he
passed out because he have consumed too much alcohol, I’ll be willing to help
him and bring him home safely.
3. Do
you believe that Filipinos are mild drinkers?
Answer:
Honestly, I don’t think so. I have seen a
group of people drinking two cases of alcoholic beverages yet they were still
not too drunk. I also heard that lambanog is a strong one yet many people can
drink countless bottles of it.
4. Do
you agree that there should be an ordinance/ law about drinking liquor? Why or
why not?
Answer:
Yes, many people forget their limits. They
were too reckless and unstoppable when the spirit of alcohol hit them. They
can’t think straight and don’t behave well. That’s why some people commit their
most regretful moments while they drunk.
5. If
ever you were to decide on what age are Filipinos allowed to drink liquor, how
old should he be? Explain your answer.
Answer:
I think Filipinos should drink at the age
of 20. Eighteen is just too young for me, they’re still teenagers at 18 so they
want to explore more. Also, I feel like at 20, people are more mature and can
handle things better than at the age of 18.
